Why i stuck with hostgator
Last post you may have seen that i’ve been hunting for a server for menewsha. Well, menewsha’s on it’s last leg. I had to act fast, we’ve used 98% of the bandwith this month, so i turned off nearly all the features. Yet, the traffic is still big!
So, i hunted around, Dave was giving me some advice in the decision making process, he advised me to go with serverwizards (i know it shouldn’t, but the ugly design puts me off) Their prices are a bit more than hostgator, and being the cheap ass that i am - i carried on looking around.
I was thinking of mediatemple as, aparently you can pay with paypal, but you have to “trick” their order form. I tried, and failed. Sent off a few e-mails, but they are too slow to reply for me.
So, i decided to stick with what i knew, i went to hostgator. I tested their live support again. Great as always, this time a very enthusiastic worker called Jess. You’d be supprised how adding an exclamation mark to the end of all your sentences helps you sell dedicated servers!
Because i was an existing customer, they didn’t allow me to use a coupon. Damn! So, the monthly cost will be around $174.00 for me, now i just need to find out how to do automatic backups.
Until next time….
Peace.

I’m with Host Gator too, the live support is fantastic!

Ooo, good luck!
You should have used the “I was thinking of changing servers but if you let me use this coupon…”, haha.
I sure hope you can get auto-backups going, that’d sure be a breath of relief for a lot of us, plus time-saving for you.
Hmm I wonder how hard it would be for me to change hosts from DreamHost right now with all my domains and DB stuff. The speed is really killing me. Good to see your site loads in 0.205 seconds though
I’ll probably switch to a bigger hosting package once I get bigger sites.
Haha, well at least you finally made your pick! Good luck!
