Today i’m going to try something new. Even though this isn’t a design blog, us entrepreneurs can always appreciate beautiful design for our sites. After all, our sites are beautiful… right?

Great roundup, when did Apple revamp their website?
Yep, i love the apple redesign. I think it was done roughly 2 days ago.
Awesome post - I’ve been to a few of those sites, but when you’ve got screenshots, you can really appreciate the site designs more. I love CopyBlogger’s, Chris Pearson is a Wordpress master.
Dugg!
pretty bad list.
copyblogger and microsoft!! please… just let smashingmagazine take care of the lists.
Microsoft I can agree with, but Copyblogger has a fantastic design. It does take a little bit of taste to see it, however.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Those designs do require a specific taste as connor said. I hope you’re not judging the microsoft design based on your opinion of the company, rather on the design. The microsoft design has to be one of my favourites. The screenshot may not do it enough justice, as it is very dynamic.
and, connor stated about copyblogger.
I agree with most of these but I think Mashable is a bit of an eyesore.
Lol.. it’s based on opinion, so it wouldn’t matter whether he liked them or not - in my opinion of course
Confused?
I like the different approach to blog posting regardless. Nice work Josh. I look forward to seeing more.
Good luck with this
Be careful about throwing around a term like that. Very few of these websites embrace any of the fundamentals that brought forth the “Web 2.0″ ideals. Unfortunately the use of bright colours, soft gradients and larger type tagged along with the phrase “Web 2.0″ which is great; the web could definitely use better readability, more cheer and less pixel-fonts but it’s taking the charm away from what could be a very important step forward for the way the internet is used. Perhaps we should coin our term for this style of design?
On the plus side, this definitely is a pick of the litter when it comes to clean design (although the background colour on the IconBuffet website is pretty sickly imo).
I’ve always thought the Firefox website was fantastic. The Apple redesign I liked a lot too. However, I can’t agree on a few of them. Cafepress, nice, but nothing special. Copyblogger.. I’m not saying it’s bad but I wouldn’t put it on a design list. I like the RSS and Email icons on the left side but thats the limit for me. With 37 Signals although I don’t dislike the design I doesn’t stand out for me.
I do agree for the majority though, the Microsoft home page I like a lot to. I’m divided on Digg and Mashable. Whilst they appear to have good layouts, their graphics are rather simplistic it seems. I think I liked Digg more before they redesigned.
Coda is a great website too. Like that one a lot, infact, all of Panics website I like. Have you seen the ‘Drag to download’ feature on their home page? It’s fantastic! :]

Great post. It’s truly amazing comparing Web 2.0 to Web 1.0. All of the sites are gorgeous, but I think 9rules takes the cake, and that’s the first time I’ve ever seen it.
[…] few blogs that I enjoy reading regularily, one of them is Joshmitsu. Check out his latest post, the Top 15 Most Beautiful Web 2.0 Designs of 2007. Some very nice designs there, its amazing what designers can do these […]

I think that http://www.adgridwork.com and http://www.reviewback.com might be a good add to the mix. I think overall though that the look and feel is good on all the sites in a way. If I only could connect with the developers to help put into action the ideas I have for some of my domain names.
I really think that Apple should be in first place … I like it more than Mozilla’s website.
“…Even though this isn’t a design blog, **we** entrepreneurs can always appreciate beautiful design for our sites…”
A good example of why 2.0 design is lousy and now, passé.
We must have very different design tastes. I can’t see much about any of these sites that is laudable. I also agree that only a few are definitively Web 2.0.
i appreciate the efficiency/simple effectiveness of the web2.0 “look”, but i have to say it has never appealed to me aesthetically.. i enjoy these sites for how well they function as communication design but i much prefer stuff like http://www.csszengarden.com when it comes to inspiration
also would not consider the micro$ponge website to be in keeping with the 2.0 theme, it looks a bit 2002 to me
