Got the cash, now what?

moneySo, it’s a month since my previous high five figure website sale. I’ve still been recieving a lot of attention about it, a month on. Questions about what i will do with this hefty sum of money at my age. Whilst i did slightly cover what i will be doing with the money in the post about the sale, i didn’t go into as much detail as i could have.

As soon as i recieved the first lump sum, within the hour that i sold the website i transferred a lot of it to my savings bank account. Basically, I sent £10,000 to a high interest savings account. Overall, there is about £15,000 in that savings account with roughly 7% annual interest. Boy was it funny for the bank staff to see a 15 year old kid depositing £10,000 in a bank account. Ofcourse, that 10k is only chump change now…. :D
I use paypal as my working capital for business, which basically contains way more than i actually need for business. I won’t be going into the amount i actually have in paypal, but it’s quite deep into the thousands. I haven’t got all of the money from the sale yet, as it comes as a monthly income for two years. Despite the very hefty fees, that money is going straight to my paypal account.

Ofcourse, i haven’t just been saving all this money. Money is there to be enjoyed! A few things i have done with the money so far, and am planning to do with the cash:

  • Bought new monitor, new computer
This was actually before the sale. However, i was anticipating that the sale was going to happen when i bought this monitor. The total package for these two is around £1,600. It consists of:
    - Dell ultrasharp 30″ tft monitor
    - Intel Core 2 duo 2.40GHZ processor
    - Nvidia geforce 8600 GT graphics card
    - one of the best Fatal1ty motherboards
    - 2GB ram
And that’s about it. I didn’t really know much about computer parts before I built this (with help from a friend of my dad’s) So, i had to get help from tom and oblivion from chatwebdev. Thanks guys!
  • We’re going on a cruise!
Me and my family are going on a cruise. This is the first time that i’ll be paying for a holiday of my own. The cruise will be for 10 days in july around europe. It should be great fun!
  • Xbox 360
Everybody has one of these bad boys! So, i sold my wii, which sucked. I plan on getting one soon, so if any readers wanna get owned - i’ll be on xbox live soon :D
  • Taking friends out
I treated some of my friends to a lunch last week, that’s one to check off the list :) Was a great lunch
  • New phone?
I’ve been looking around for a new phone recently. One that i can check my e-mail/use msn on etc.. I tried out the iphone, and i love it. Shame about the horrible contract though, i’m not willing to spend that much.
  • New camera?
With little knowledge of cameras, this one is pretty hard. Although, this is one that I will probably make good use of. It will mean i get to post photos on the blog, which definitely makes more quality content :D
  • Laptop???
Whilst i love this new pc and 30″ monitor, i fell in love with the macbook. I probably won’t get one for a couple of months - but i think it will be great for travelling and just using around/outside the house.

Now, i think that list is pretty full. Although, this only adds up to a tiny fraction of the sale amount. The rest of the money will all be invested into my new projects, of which there are many. I have quite a few partnerships in the works. Unfortunately, the url’s won’t be getting posted on this blog, at least not for a while yet.
I may however be posting information about what kind of money i am bringing in from these new projects.

So, i hope this post cleared anything up :) This should be the last i’ll be posting about the sale.

Congratulations, Josh. That is quite an accomplishment you’ve done. I, being a Menewsha player, know very well you deserve this.

Yeah, paypal was the only payment method we could figure out for that. We will be changing that when i’m 16, which is in 3 months. But, it would definitely save money if there’s a way to get around it :D

    Hey dude,

That’s awesome to hear about your 4 figure sale. I’m sure it was really motivating. The dell monitor sure does have a hefty pricetag, but i definitely love it. I can fit so much on my screen now. However, definitely check out if your graphics card can handle it before buying. These monitors require some pretty powerful specs.

I’ll catch you on msn soon, will be cool to talk.
