The booth is growing

dailybooth

Dailybooth, the web application that i hold a share in for my venture capital is looking to be more and more promising by the day. I can honestly seeing this website alone completing my first 2008 goal, which is probably the most important to me. We have reason to believe, that if we decide to sell in the future, maybe early next year that we can get a very nice sum of money,  $xxx, xxx if not $x,xxx, xxx. That might seem like a crazy thing to say for a site that has not even opened yet, but i’ve had recent news from Jon that is going to dramatically increase the traffic, branding and value of the site.

With these recent developments, and if all goes as planned, this could easily become my biggest project to date. And, what’s great about this is that i’m a sleeping partner. I’m requried to do no work, my money does all the work.

dailybooth

We have 3 developers currently working on the project, and we should be heading dead on our release date of march the 1st. I’ve allready been showed a working, yet very basic client of the booth from our developers and things are looking to be very good. We have also chosen to redesign the site, i can only see things getting better.

Things are going to get big.

My macbook

My macbook pro arrived yesterday evening. I must say, i love it all ready! It’s going to take a lot of getting used to, and it feels pretty strange to be a noob once again.

I love apple’s great attention to detail, their packaging is just perfect. Props to the designers there.

macbook

Here’s my new setup, in its full glory. 30″ monitor, quad core desktop and macbook pro. Getting pretty baller!

macbook desk

I definitely love working on the laptop, away from the desk. Right now, i’m downstairs, on the sofa :) I’ll keep you guys up to date with how i’m doing with the mac. If anybody out there has mac tips, please feel free to send them my way ;)

Powerful posts - 21st Jan 08

I’ve decided to bring back my “powerful posts” feature. These posts used to be fairly popular in the first quarters of ‘07, until it seemed to slowly die out.

Carl Pei - I’m going to Jail?
My friend Carl took a break from blogging, and has just got back into it. With his first post back, he explains how he is getting blamed for a phishing crime that he didn’t commit. Basically, a domain of his was hacked and a phishing site was used on it. Check out carl’s blog, and see what we can do to help.

Nate Whitehill - Why I Started Blogging…From Motivation to Game Plan
Being a year, since nate founded his  powerful blog, Nate writes about the motivation he found to start his blog, and the game plan. It’s a very interesting article.

CarsonifiedCarsonified iphones
Carsonified, the company who run such events as fowa and fowd have recently bought all their employees iphones! To sweeten the deal, they also pay the tarriff. How cool is that?

J0n Wheatley - Out takes
Were sending an elevator pitch to techcrunch for dailybooth (a project that i have an investment in) Check how many out takes these video blogs have!

Shoemoney - Do You Think Another Tech Bubble is coming?
A very interesting topic to us in this industry. It’s pretty scary. I like to hear the oppinion of shoemoney, as he is a very powerful figure in the industry.

Josh is getting a mac

I’ve never been too much of an apple fan until recently. Sure, i’ve had an ipod like most people these days, but that’s about as far as i went. It’s only been recently, since windows vista has been terrible that i’ve looked elsewhere. Now i’ve looked into macs in the past, and i just didn’t see such a big reason to switch over. But, with the vista problems in the last few weeks, i’ve decided that i’ll have both a pc and a mac.

It hasn’t been easy to choose which mac to buy, all i knew is that i wanted a notebook. I waited til macworld to make my decision, and it wasn’t too hard in the end. As many of you should know, apple recently released a 3rd notebook in their current product line. It’s the ultra portable macbook air. Whilst this notebook has a great design, the specs still leave something to be desired. That’s my reason for going against the air.

pro

In the end, i chose the macbook pro. The fact that it has a larger screen and i’ll be able to use it on my 30″ monitor makes it great. I’m definitely looking forward to this baby arriving in the mail :D

So, expect to see some podcasts (hopefully) in the near future. Running on a mac and a laptop will be  a new experience to me.

…And the winner is

Me!

The race to 200 rss readers, being held by me and Jon Wheatley has finally come to an end! As you can see from my sidebar, and the title of this post, i won! I actually hit 200 a couple of days ago, but jon didn’t get a chance to make the winning post. It was this new design that brought me the last few rss readers needed to jump up. Thats to everybody that subscribed!

Here’s the video by Jon:

We are now having a race to 300 rss subscribers, wish me luck guys! If you’re not subscribed allready, please subscribe here
